Wherry Awarded Clayco Scholarship

Wherry Awarded Clayco Scholarship

Darius Wherry, a 2017 North Tech graduate from the Construction Trades program, was recently awarded a generous scholarship from our industry partner Clayco.

Darius had participated in the Clayco’s Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI) program while at North Tech and secured an internship this past summer. His program participation also resulted in a job offer from Clayco, but Darius was committed to attending Missouri Western University this fall to begin his studies in Civil Engineering.

Upon hearing Darius’ post-secondary path, Clayco CCDI leaders invited him to their headquarters for a meeting, which resulted in a both a $15,000 scholarship to support his studies and a mentorship from Vice President Rick Moeckel. Darius will continue to come back to North Tech to serve as an ambassador to current students in CCDI and share his college and internship experiences with them.

Congratulations to Darius and thank you to Clayco for their continued and generous support of North Tech students beyond high school graduation.
