First Class of Students to Earn PCT Certification

First Class of Students to Earn PCT Certification

Congratulations to North Tech’s first class of certified Patient Care Technicians! The Health Sciences department added Patient Care Technician (PCT) curriculum to the program this year. A PCT is a healthcare worker who is responsible for caring for patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, long-term facilities, and nursing homes for the elderly.

The Patient Care Technician Certification offered through MedCA is new this year at North Technical High School. Last year during the Health Science Advisory Board meetings it was determined that the MedCA PCT certification would reinforce key concepts and expand opportunities for students. Students earned this certification in addition to certifications in CPR, First Aid, OSHA and their Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).  If you see the following students please congratulate them:  Veronica Bradley, Angela Brown, Breanna Fry, Diamond Hughley, Maleah Lucas, Nija Rowell, Dieynaba Sam, Chrishana Smith, Janetra Townsend, and Erica C Williams.
