Alumnus Naton Smith Excels at TSU

Naton Smith is making his mark at Tennessee State University.  In his first semester, he has excelled in the Honor’s College by maintaining a 3.81 grade point average while participating in the Men’s Center, intramural basketball, and developing his own clothing line.  Smith plans to study physical therapy after completing his undergraduate studies.  TSU recently published a profile on Smith, spotlighting him as one of their stand out students.  The profile can be seen here: http://tnstatenewsroom.com/archives/21194.

During a quick Q & A with Smith, who graduated near the top of his class, the busy freshman shared some memories about his experiences at North Tech and how they prepared him for the rigor of college coursework at TSU.

North Tech:  How many years did you attend North Tech and what were your CTE courses?

Smith:  I attended North Tech for three years:  One year of Sophomore Career Exploration, one year of Business, and one year of Pre-Professional Health Sciences Academy (PPHSA).

North Tech:  How did your classes prepare you for college?

Smith:  North Tech prepared me to the fullest for my college courses, especially my PPHSA class and anatomy class.  Both gave me a jump start on my college science classes.

North Tech:  How did you determine your college major?

Smith:  I determined my major because I wanted to be close to sports.  I played soccer, basketball, and baseball in high school.  In addition, I competed in track.  So I wanted a major that would keep me close to sports.

North Tech:  What are some of your best memories of North Tech?

Smith:  1) Senior Night of Basketball, 2) Winning Prom King, 3) Getting a gold card in Renaissance
