Cosmetology Shop Grand Opening Brings in Hundreds

Cosmetology Shop Grand Opening Brings in Hundreds

North Tech’s brand new, state-of-the-art, cosmetology salon and classroom were unveiled to the public on October 31, 2018 with a ‘Ribbon Cutting Ceremony’ and celebration. Family, friends of students, and members of the community were greeted with complimentary breakfast and coffee while they waited for their appointments and pampering from the students. The overall mood of happiness and excitement could be felt radiating from all who attended, and it is no surprise why; this space looks amazing.

After many months of practicing their skills in a supplemental classroom, the students were overjoyed with their new workspace, which is both professional and spacious. The classroom and salon highlight the dedication North Tech has to ensuring every student has the most realistic and relevant job training experience possible. Complete with massage chairs, pedi-spas, waxing stations, dozens of beauty stations, several wash sinks, and even a break room, this renovated space surpasses what most envision when they think of a classroom. Many visitors remarked about how much the space resembled a salon from the public sector, and several commented on how lucky the students were to have such a fantastic opportunity to learn hands-on skills in a real world setting.

As a special thank you to those who came to support the students, all beauty services during the celebration were complimentary. North Tech was very pleased with the number of community members who took advantage of the special occasion pricing because making connections with the community is an important part of the school’s mission. In fact, so many people flocked to the school, appointments were difficult to come by once the event began. When asked about what she expected for the day, Ms. Burns, with a giant grin on her face, said, “We are booked solid all day with over 100 appointments scheduled. The students will be super busy until the end of school.”

North Tech is currently accepting applications for the Cosmetology program for Fall 2019.  In this two year course, students learn all of the required skills to take their Missouri Cosmetology Licensure exam at the end of their senior year.  Rather than waiting until after high school graduation to attend a beauty college, North Tech’s students are able to study and prepare for the exam through this tuition free high school elective.

Do not worry if you were not fortunate enough to attend this fabulous event because the talented students in both of our Cosmetology Shops will be happy to help you with your beauty needs. To make an appointment, call Ms. Burns at 314-989-7617 or Ms. Boyd at 314-989-7747.
