North Tech Showcase Day at Hazelwood West

North Tech Showcase Day at Hazelwood West

For the second year in a row, North Tech High School and Hazelwood West High School teamed up to offer nearly 200 freshmen and sophomores the opportunity to learn about the exciting options technical education can provide them to enhance their future success. Representatives from each career cluster at North Tech were present at the late September event to answer questions and educate students about the benefits of preparing for highly skilled, high demand careers.

The event was organized by Hazelwood’s Assistant Principal, Terrance Manker, in collaboration with North Tech’s admissions representative, Rich Kantner. After last year’s event, North Tech saw a significant amount of students from Hazelwood West applying to attend North Tech. In fact, Hazelwood has quickly become North Tech’s biggest sending school district and many speculate that it is due to the continued efforts to increase awareness and build relationships between the two schools. Discussions have begun to determine how the event might be expanded for the 2020-2021 school year, and Mr. Kantner is excited at what possibilities lie ahead.

When asked why he thought to reach out to North Tech and coordinate the event, Mr. Manker said, “At Hazelwood West High School, we decided to host a North Technical School Showcase Day for the purpose of ensuring our students are aware of the educational opportunities available to them at North Tech. North Tech provides an excellent fit for many of our students, and these students often find their passion as they develop their skills and certifications in pursuit of highly skilled and fulfilling careers. Hazelwood West High School’s partnership with North County Technical School allows our students to achieve our mission of becoming lifelong learners equipped with 21st Century skills for success as global citizens. We plan on continuing this partnership in an ongoing effort to ensure our students have access to every available educational opportunity afforded to them.”

North Tech is very proud to offer our unique, real world educational opportunities and we look forward to working with additional partner schools to spread the word about how #ThisIsTech can have a positive impact on their students’ futures.
