Administration Staff

Jim Hieger

Mr. Jim Hieger began his Administrative Career at North Tech High School in 2014. Prior to serving as principal, Mr. Hieger spent six years as an Assistant Principal at North Tech, three years as an Area Coordinator, and six years as a special education teacher in the Hazelwood School District. He is most proud of increasing college credit classes and developing partnerships with industries, as well as adding clubs and activities for the students who attend North Tech. Mr. Hieger believes that North Tech provides incredible opportunities for students to prepare for college and careers.

Kevin Edson

Mr. Kevin Edson began working at North Tech High School as a Science Instructor in 2011. Prior to teaching at North Tech he taught in Buffalo, NY and New York City. After several years as a classroom instructor, TREND sponsor, and Varsity Baseball Coach at North Tech, Mr. Edson assumed the role of Assistant Principal in 2016. Mr. Edson received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Binghamton University and his Master's Degree in Information Science from the University of Albany. Mr. Edson also holds and Education Specialist Degree in School Administration from Lindenwood University.

Esthere Scott

Ms. Esthere Scott has worked for SSD for over 12 years. She began her education career as a Special Education teacher and later became an Administrative Intern for SSD. She began working as the Assistant Principal at North Tech in the 14-15 school year. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Harris-Stowe State University. Later, she earned two Master’s Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration. Ms. Scott also earned an Education Specialist’s Degree in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University.

Dr. Ronda Wallace

Dr. Ronda Wallace has 18 years of educational experience at all levels. Dr. Wallace earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Texas Southern University, a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University. Previously Dr. Wallace served as Assistant Principal at Normandy Middle School. Dr. Wallace is also the 2013 recipient of the Apple for The Teacher Award.

Jeff Chandler

Mr. Chandler began his career with children and families in 1991 at Marygrove Children’s Center in Hazelwood, Mo. While earning his Master’s Degree and working for the State of Missouri, Mr. Chandler decided to pursue certification and employment in School Counseling. For six years he worked for the St. Louis Public Schools, followed by one year at Riverview Gardens High School and the last thirteen years at North Technical High School.

Melissa Merry

Ms. Melissa Merry has a MA in Professional & School Counseling from Lindenwood University. She worked at the Division of Family Services and Vocational Rehabilitation before coming to work at North Technical High School.

Davina Reid

Ms. Davina Reid graduated from Tennessee State University in 1997. She went on to receive a Master's in Education in the area of Secondary School Counseling in 2004. Prior to becoming a counselor at North Technical High School, she served 7 years with St Louis Public Schools, 5 years as a teacher and 2 years as a counselor.

Ms. Cher’ron Jones began working for North Tech High School as an Admissions Representative in 2013. While working as a college recruiter, she earned her Masters of Education and soon after began working as an academic advisor in the higher education setting. Ms. Jones achieved her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University.

Rich Kantner

Mr. Rich Kanter has been with North Tech High School since 2006. Prior to becoming an Admissions Representative, Mr. Katner also the Athletic Director and Coach. Mr. Katner has a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Health, Physical Education and Driver Education.

Omar Perkins

Mr. Omar Perkins began employment with SSD and North Tech High School in 2014 as an Admissions Representative. Mr Perkins has over 15 years experience in recruiting, working for some of the largest non-for profit and for profit organizations. While at MERS/Goodwill, he was head of the "Out of State Youth Program" where taught Job Readiness Training and Life skills. While at DESI he recruited for Job Corps and many other government funded program/agencies and also did Job Retention. Mr Perkins has his B.S. in Political Science and a B.A. in Public Administration from Kentucky State University.

Chantal Chandler

Ms. Chantal Chandler currently serves as North and South Tech’s Strategic Outreach and Communications Coordinator. She began working for the schools in 2006 and has a Bachelor’s in Journalism and a Master’s in Communications.

Cassandra Adams

Ms. Cassandra Adams began working at North Tech as the Mathematics Instructor in 2013. Previously Ms. Adams worked as the Mathematics Teacher at Normandy High School and was also the Summer School Math Teacher at Hazelwood West High School. Ms. Adams has a BA in Mathematics from Grambling State University, a MA in Secondary Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a MA in Teaching from Webster University.

Alma Adkins

Mrs. Alma Adkins has worked for SSD since 2005, and teaches Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 at North Tech. Mrs. Adkins received her bachelor's degree in Spanish K-12 from Lindenwood University.

John Blandford

Mr. John Blandford started working at North Tech in 2012 as a Special Education teacher. After obtaining his certification in music, he has started the music program at North Tech teaching Basic Music Theory and Choir. Mr. Blandford has a BA in Music from Webster University and a MA in Special Education from Fontbonne University. He also runs the after school band at North Tech.

Sandy Cowan

Ms. Sandy Cowan has been with North Tech High School since 2000 and has a BA in Mathematics and a MAE in Secondary Math Education. Ms. Cowan is also an Adjunct Professor for Missouri Baptist University, St. Louis University, and STLCC.

John Diffley

Mr. John Diffley is currently the Personal Finance Instructor at North Tech and has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education with Certification in Business Ed, Physical Ed, and Vocational Ed. Prior to joining the North Tech team, Mr. Diffley worked for the Mid-County YMCA where he oversaw the After-School Childcare and Day Camp Programs.

Monica Feldman

Ms. Monica Feldman began working at North Tech High School in 2011 and teaches Chemistry and Concepts of Chemistry. Ms. Feldman has a B.A. in Chemistry from St. Louis University and a M.A. in Teaching from Lindenwood University. She is also the Senior Class Sponsor.

JoAnne Fischer

Mrs. JoAnne Fischer has 15 years of teaching, coaching, and administration experience at various levels. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University. Mrs. Fischer started her teaching and coaching career at Hazelwood Central High School. She then moved to Timberland High School, Winfield High School, and finally North Technical High School, where she has been for 5 years now. Mrs. Fischer is the Math Department Chair and is mathematically challenging the fine young minds of North Tech. Additionally, in her second years of serving as a Senior Co-Sponsor and Yearbook Co-Sponsor, she is making connections with students to better enhance their professional and creative skills.

Craig Frazier

Mr. Craig Frazier began working at North Tech in 2015 as the Athletic Director. Prior to joining the Tech team, Mr. Fraizer worked as the Assistant Principal at another Special School District school, Southview. Mr. Frazier has a Master's in Educational Administration from MoBap.

Victor Hicks

Shanae Jenkins

Angela Keyes

Ms. Angela Keyes began working for North Tech High School as the Science Instructor in 2015. Prior to joining the North Tech team, Ms. Keyes worked at Special Special District in the Homebound Department and taught science at Jennings High School. She also taught at the Challenger Learning Center.

John Magee

John Magee, B.S.M.E., M.B.A, has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and a Masters in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. After earning both, Mr. Magee fell in love with the passion, the kindness, and the curiosity of young people and started teaching high school. He has over 20 years of teaching experience in the St. Louis area and has also been fortunate enough to have taught 5 summers in Gulu, Uganda. Mr. Magee has also coached several high school sports, alongside his teaching work and was an assistant baseball coach at North Tech last year. Mr. Magee is really looking forward to teaching at North Tech for many years and knows that nothing is as much fun as working on math problems with his students.

Phil Patterson

Mr. Phil Patterson graduated with his undergraduate degree in Secondary English Education from Indiana University & Masters Degree in Secondary Administration from UMSL. Before working for SSD, Mr. Patterson worked at Riverview Gardens High School for 12 years. He has coached both boys and girls tennis and currently coaches girls tennis at North Tech.

Erica Robinson

Barbara Shipp

Ms. Barbara Shipp has eleven years of teaching experience at the secondary level. She began working at North Technical High School as an Interventionist in 2016. Ms. Shipp earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting from Lindenwood University and a Master of Secondary Education with emphasis in Reading from UMSL-St. Louis.

Ryan Weber

Mr. Weber has a bachelor’s degree in history from Truman State University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Southwest Baptist University. He has spent his entire teaching career at North Tech where he has enjoyed being a Renaissance sponsor, assistant baseball coach, and A+ coordinator. During his time at North Tech Mr. Weber has been most passionate about preparing students for the rigor of post-secondary education and careers.

Prior to joining the North Tech team, Ms. Wilkinson was an ABA Paraprofessional for SSD at Litzsinger School. She graduated from Lindenwood University in 2009 with a Bachelors in Art Education.

Kim Willy

Ms. Willy has been a physical educator for almost 25 years and has had the privilege of teaching North Tech students for 20 of those years. Prior to teaching at Tech, Ms. Willy earned her Bachelor"s degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, IL and a Masters degree at National Louis University, Chicago, IL. Ms. Willy has coached softball, and track, and while at North Tech has coached volleyball and is currently the junior class sponsor.

Josh Galati

Mr. Joshua Galati has been in the Construction, Manufacturing, and Production industries for many years and has worked with many companies including; TransCannada, BW Brown Construction, and Glaziers Midwest. Mr. Galati began working at North Tech High School in 2010 and is currently the Production Engineering Instructor. Mr. Galati has a degree in Secondary Education Social Sciences from UMSL and is currently working on his Masters in Secondary Administration at University of Central Missouri. Mr. Galati is also the head coach for girl’s volleyball at North Tech.

Pat Hanneken

Mr. Pat Hanneken has been in the Construction Trades industry for many years and has worked with many companies including; Hudson Mechanical, Brown Group, and Gundaker Commercial. Mr. Hanneken began working at North Tech High School as a Teacher Assistant in 2000 and is currently the Construction Trades Instructor. Pat is also the head soccer coach for both boys and girls soccer at North Tech.

Byron Lane

Mr. Byron Lane began working for Special School District at South Tech High School in 1999 and transferred to North Tech in 2008. After graduating O'Fallon Technical High School, Mr. Lane joined the Carpenters Union and worked as a union carpenter for 11 years.

Advanced Manufacturing

We will teach you how to weld, machine, program, and design within the high-demand fields of Advanced Manufacturing. Our interactive courses are led by professionals and taught in a high-tech, real world environment.

Brett Smith

Mr. Smith has been the Instructor for Precision Machining at North Tech since 2001. After graduation from Ranken with an Associate of Science in Precision Machining Technology, Brett began working as a Tool and Diemaker apprentice at Ehrhardt Tool & Machine where he completed his apprenticeship and became a journeyman. As well as the Associate of Science degree, he also has an Associate of Arts degree from Southwestern Illinois College.

Jim Sheppard

Mr. Jim Sheppard has worked in the Advanced Manufacturing field for many years. Before joining the North Tech team, Mr. Sheppard owned and operated Machine Company, which specialized in building custom machinery. Employees were skilled in Machining, Welding and Fabrication.

David Bohannan

Prior to joining the North Tech team in 2001, Mr. David Bohannan worked for The Hughes Group as the Art Director and also worked as a freelance design/illustrator. Mr. Bohanna has a Associates of Arts Degree in Advertising from St. Louis Community College.

Shan Oliver

Shan Oliver is the Fashion Design instructor at North Tech High School. This is his second year teaching at North Tech High school. Shan has worked in the Fashion industry over 15 years. He has studied Fashion Design under the leadership of Jay Singleton at Washington University where he was molded into running a fashion business under “Shan Keith Designs”. Shan was also a finalist on Project Runway, Under the Gunn in 2014. He hopes to motivate and led students into obtaining successful careers in the fashion industry.

Joyce Dent

Prior to joining the North Tech team, Ms. Joyce Dent worked in the Printing Technology field as a Quality Control Inspector, Press Operator, and Data Control Operator among other things. Ms. Dent has an AAS Degree in Math and another Degree in Graphic Communication.

Jim Elkins

Prior to joining the North Tech Team, Mr. Jim Elkins spent 8 years as the Technology Coordinator and instructor in Illinois. Mr. Elkin helped the school district he worked in become only the fifth in the state to have Internet access in every classroom K-12. He has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University.

Ida Lambert

Ms. Ida Lambert began working at North tech in 1998. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a MBA from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. In 2004, Ms. Lambert was the National Semi-Finalist in the Nasdaq National Teaching Award for her winning lesson plan “Smart Moves” designed to bring economic thinking and decision making into the classroom.

Chris Palladino

Mr. Palladino began working at North Tech High in 2016 as the teacher of the International Hotel Group Academy Program. Prior to joining North Tech Mr. Palladino had worked for Hyatt Hotels for approximately 10 years in cities such as Chicago, Louisville, and St. Louis. Mr. Palladino has a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University and an M.B.A. in Hospitality Administration from Roosevelt University.

Patti Venturella

Mrs. Patti Venturella has been in the Software and Web Development area for more than 25 years. Mrs. Venturella studied Computer Engineering at Missouri S&T. Before joining the North Tech team, Mrs. Venturella worked in software development for various St. Louis companies, including Boeing, Monsanto, and Ameren. Additionally, Mrs. Venturella was an IT instructor at Washington University, UMSL, and Saint Louis University.

At the heart of the Human Services pathway is a desire to help others and enhance their lives in creative ways. Your real world classrooms are a full-service salon, a professional kitchen, or preschool and daycare in which you will practice and perfect skills.

Claudia Boyd

Ms. Claudia Boyd has been with North Tech High School since 2000. Along with being the Cosmetology instructor she also is the SkillsUSA Advisor. In addition to working on the Teach team, Ms. Boyd is the owner of Claudia's N2 Hair Beauty Salon and brings over 30 years of cosmetology experience to Tech.

Jennifer Burns

Through out my years, I have motivated, mentored, trained and managed future and licensed cosmetologist to become successful within our industry. I have a true passion for the beauty industry and I love being able to share my knowledge and experience with my students.

Wayne Gerler

I earned my BSBA from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 1983. I began my food service career as a General Manager for Casa Gallardo for ten years, then with Cracker Barrel for 19+ years. After 30 years of dedication to the industry but requiring working every weekend and holiday, I found a more family-friendly, but rewarding career in teaching. I spent my first year as a teacher assistant\substitute teacher. I now have four years of teaching culinary arts experience.

Toby Starns

Mr. Toby Starns began his hospitality journey as a dishwasher at the age of 15 in a little mom and pop Greek diner. Mr. Starns continued to work in the industry until he graduated high school and joined the Air Force. After completing his enlistment, he came back to industry where he continued his education along with learning different aspects of the business and soon found myself with opportunities in both, front and back of the house management. Mr. Starns joined the North Tech team in 2010 with over 18 years of hospitality experience.

Cahterine Urban

Ms. Catherine Urban was hired by SSD in 1998 at Ackerman School and in 1999 she joined the North Tech team. Ms. Urban has been in the Early Childhood Education field for 20 plus years. She received her Associates of Applied Science in Child Care Education from Florissant Valley Community College.

Medical & Animal Sciences

Ensure the health of people or animals by learning biology, chemistry, and anatomy as you explore a major in Medical and Animal Sciences. These fields support the booming healthcare industry and each has a wide variety of educational pathways after high school.

Sara Albers

Ms. Sara Albers earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri graduating in 1982 with honors. Prior to teaching here at North Tech I was a Nurse Manager for a Skilled Nursing Unit in an acute care facility. Ms. Albers also worked for many years in Intensive Care Units and Operating Rooms.

Ann Landram

In her 38 years as a RN, Ms. Landram has experienced everything from pediatrics to geriatrics. She has always has a passion for mentoring people new to the Health Care Field. Ms. Landram is a graduate of Maryville University.

Eric McMullen

Mr. Eric McMullen has a Bachelor's in Biology from St. Louis University, an Associates in Veterinary Technology - Registered Veterinary Technician, and a Master's in Secondary Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Mr. McMullen went into education because he felt it was the most gratifying career in the world.

Marla Simmons

Ms. Marla Simmons has 27 years’ experience in the Health Sciences industry. Prior to joining North Tech in 2006 Ms. Simmons was Director of Health Services at a local St. Louis High School. Ms. Simmons has worked for various hospitals as an acute care nurse, case manager and patient access nurse. Ms. Simmons received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University.

Clarence Hines

Mr. Clarence Hines joined the SSD family in 2012 after he retirement from The St. Louis Police Department, where he retired as a Detective Sergeant. While on the police department, Mr. Hines worked primarily undercover narcotics and as an Academy Instructor. During his tenure, he was awarded 15 Commander's Letters of Commendation for Excellence in Law Enforcement. Mr. Hines has a BA in Behavioral Science and Masters Degree in Theological Studies.

Anthony Rezek

Sophomore Exploration

Over the course of one or two semesters, students will rotate through up to eight career clusters while being introduced to all of the majors available in the 11th grade. Explore through hands-on projects, exciting activities, and shadowing experiences to discover the program that fits your interests and aspirations.

Andee Champion

Ms. Champion joined North Tech in 2008 as the fashion design instructor. After eight years of fittings and fashion shows, she transferred to the Career Exploration program where she enjoys introducing sophomores to the Law Enforcement, Early Childcare, Cosmetology and Fashion Design shops. She is a graduate of Stephens College.

Earlene Hicks

Ms. Earlene Hicks is a Licensed Practical Nurse who began her career in healthcare in 1996. After working as an LPN, Ms. Hicks decided she wanted to be an educator and in 2009 returned to school to study Special Education. Ms. Hicks joined the North Tech team in 2012 and is currently on the Building Leadership Team, PBIS Committee and works with the Staff Wellness Committee.

Drussel Huston

Prior to joining the North Tech Team, Mr. Drussel Huston was a TV Cameraman and Engineer for Discovery TV of Grenada, West Indies. He was also an On Air Personality for KIRL 1460 Am Radio. Mr. Huston has a BS in Electrical and Electronic Technology and an AS in Broadcast Engineering.

George Merritt

Prior to joining the North Tech Team, Mr. George Merritt worked at General Electric as an Electrician for over 18 years. He graduated Ranken College and earned a degree in Instrumentation process and Industrial Electricity.

Jeanne Robinson

Ms. Jeanne Robinson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from University of Missouri with Certification in Business Ed and Vocational Ed and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia College, Columbia, MO. She also has a Master’s Degree in Information Technology. Prior to joining the North Tech Team, Ms. Robinson worked as the Administrative Assistance to the Director of Logistics for the U.S. Army Aviation and Troop Command.

Ted Stanfield

Although Ted has been working at SSD for nearly 30 years, he says he ended up here by "accident." Ted lost the use of his legs due to a degenerative back condition back in 1985, which ended his career as a machinist. After extensive rehabilitation and some valuable advice that he would be good working with kids, Ted started back to work as a substitute teacher. Soon after, Ted was hired as a full-time paraprofessional and began teaching about 8 years ago. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2004 and is currently working on his master’s degree.

Jason Buchheit

Mr. Jason Buchheit began working as the Auto Body Instructor at North Tech High School in 2016. After graduating from Perryville High School in 2000, Mr. Buchheit furthered his education, in Auto Collision, at Universal Technical Institute in Houston Texas. Jason has a Certification in Auto Collision and is also I-Car Certified in Aluminum and Steel Welding. Prior to joining the North Tech Team, Jason taught Auto Collision Repair at Cape Career.

Benn Duvall

Mr. Benn Duvall has been an Instructor at North Tech High School since 2007. Mr. Duvall completed Graduate School through International Truck and has an Automotive/Diesel Degree from Universal Technical Institute.

Heidi Binggeli

Ms. Heidi Binggeli serves as Instructional Technology Facilitator for both North and South Tech. She assists our instructors with integrating varied applications of technology into their instructional practice. Prior to this position, she taught in North Tech’s Social Studies Department for four years. Ms. Binggeli holds a B.A. in Sociology, an M.A. in Sociology, certifications in Secondary Social Studies and Special Education, and is a Google for Education Certified Trainer. Ms. Binggeli is also proud to coach the North Tech QuizBowl Team.

Byron Devrouax

Mr. Byron Devrouax holds a Master’s in Criminal Justice and Master’s in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Missouri. Mr. Devrouax started his career working with adolescents and families within the child welfare/foster care system (at-risk population). He has an abundance of experience working with families/adolescents within the court system, hospital and school settings. He is certified/trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive therapy and the Wraparound Philosophy. Prior to joining the North Tech team, Mr. Devrouax worked as a School Based Clinical Supervisor in St. Louis.

Amanda Edwards

Ms. Amanda Edwards came to North Tech in 2011 from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation where she worked with Deaf/Hard of Hearing adults and later worked with students in the SSD Transition Program. Ms. Edwards earned her B.A. from Hendrix College and her M.ED in Deaf Rehabilitation from the University of Arkansas. She later attended Missouri Baptist University and earned her Psychological Examiner Certification. Currently, she serves as the Assessment Facilitator and A+ Coordinator for North Technical HS.

Carol Fuqua

Susan Gummersbach

Ms. Susan Gummersbach has been with Special School District for 28 years. Of those years, 24 were spent teaching science in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Forenics, Honors Microbiology, 1818 Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Presently, she is assisting students in the core curriculum of Keytrain, an ACT program. Other activities and boards Ms. Gummersbach has actively participated in have been Skills USA for 14 years, Friends of Kids with Cancer and the Dwight David Eisenhower Math and Science. Ms. Susan's undergraduate degrees are: History/Political Science and Science/Education (Maryville University) Masters in Science (Webster University); Post Graduate in genetics at Johns-Hopkins University and UCLA.

Karen Kitchen

Ms. Karen Kitchen has been in the Nursing field for 23 years and began working at North Tech in 2008. Prior to joining the Tech team, Ms. Kitchen worked in several different areas of nursing including ICU, oncology and GI. Ms. Kitchen received her nursing license from Lutheran School of Nursing and also has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University.

Tom Petrus

Mr. Tom Petrus is a St. Louis County Police Officer assigned as the School Resource Officer at North Tech High School. Mr. Peturs has been a Police Officer for 26 years with St. Louis County and has served in many different positions during his career. Tom has been in the North County Precinct for 24 of his 26 years. He was a Burglary Detective for 9 years and a Homocide Detective with the Major Case Squad for 8 years. Mr. Petrus received a B.S. from UMSL in the Administartion of Justice Field and a minor in Psychology.

Greg Sadler

Mr. Greg Sadler began working for North Tech in 2006. Prior to joining the Tech team, Mr. Sadler was a Social Studies teacher and is now the Library Media Specialist. Mr. Sadler has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southeast Missouri State University and a Teaching certificate from the University of Missouri.

Ms. Mary Schmidt has been with Special School District for almost a decade. Ms. Schmidt starting with the District working in the Purchasing Department then joined the North Tech team as the Registrar.

Krista Sherman

Ms. Krista Sherman has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Missouri. Ms. Sherman started her career working with adolescents and families in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center before moving into education as a school social worker.

Ms. Barbara Williams has worked with Special School District for over 27 years. Ms. Williams has worked approximately 15 years with the Transportation/Routing Department helping new and returning students with their transportation. Ms. Williams's main responsibility is AdminISM, she also takes and print student and staff pictures for their school ID.
